For Every OneTravel soccer is another level of instructional soccer. Players are generally more skilled and dedicated to soccer than intramural players due to more practice time and competition with teams from other communities in the Essex County Youth Soccer Association. Teams usually practice 2 times a week and play eight games on Saturdays for Under 10-Under 14 age groups. Four games are home and four are away, in other towns in Essex County. If players wish to continue their soccer experience onto a high school team, travel soccer is their best bet to progress to the level they will make the team.
2012 Fall Season Travel Schedules
U16-U19 teams play 6 games on Sundays, only in Spring, since most teams consist of high school players who are committed to their school teams. The league does not have a Spring season for these age groups. Teams usually play only one game on their home field per season.
Teams play a Fall season from early September to early November, and a Spring season beginning in early April to early June. In the Spring only, top teams qualify for playoffs which lead to the Massachusetts Tournament of Champions in late June. U10 is non-competitive, records are not kept and ther are no playoffs.
If there are more players than spots on Travel Teams, full refunds will be given to players not selected for a team. Registration does not guarantee a spot on a travel team. We will make great effort to place all players on a team. Skill level varies widely in travel soccer, but teams are placed in divisons they are expected to be competitive in.
Teams are selected by the Travel Division of the LYS Board of Directors with input from coaches and third party evaluations. Until the U16-U19 age group, every effort is made to place players on their correct soccer age team. Exceptions may be made at the discretion of the Travel Division.
Travel players can participate in intramural at no cost, but must first register for intramural. Many travel teams enter tournaments on Memorial and Columbus Day weekends at their own cost.
Registration fee for Travel Soccer is $55.00 per season. The league requires teams to be formed several months prior to the season beginning, which requires early registration for players.
Any new players or players moving up in age group need to submit a photo.
Please email the photo to traveldirector@lynnyouthsoccer.org or mail to P.O. Box 8324 Lynn, MA 01904, Attn: Travel Director
Sorry no refunds after the start of the season, which is 2 weeks prior to the first scheduled game.
